Paul Edmonds (GGSM) - piano, keyboards & trumpet
Specialising in jazz and popular songs
Song writing and recording.
Paul is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music. At 17 he joined the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the following year he won the International Trumpet Guild's Jazz Improvisation Competition, the final of which was held at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London. After graduating Paul worked as both a jazz trumpeter and pianist, leading his own groups at Ronnie Scott’s as well as other prestigious venues. Described as the best trumpet player of his generation he was a member of the ground breaking “Loose Tubes” collective, touring throughout Britain and in Europe. Since 2000 Paul has recorded several CDs on his own record label, featuring both his trumpet and piano playing, as well as many of his own compositions, in both live and studio settings.
With his background as a professional performer, song writer and recording engineer Paul offers much diversity as a teacher - from beginning an instrument through to writing and recording an album. As a pianist he has also accompanied and recorded many aspiring vocalists, giving them an outlet for self expression and increasing their confidence as performers.
Paul offers one to one lessons to adults (16+) and runs workshops which are open to anyone wanting to learn how to improvise on their chosen instrument.
In his spare time Paul plays tennis and was a county level player in his youth!
